Honeywell Vent Sanitizing: The Las Vegas Owner’s Guide
If your Honeywell UV air treatment system or electronic air cleaner has stopped sanitizing properly, we stock the replacement bulbs, power supplies, and UV lamp kits needed to get it running again. Most Honeywell vent sanitizing replacements in Las Vegas run $285 – $520 installed, depending on whether it’s a single UV bulb swap or a full ballast-and-lamp replacement. We carry Honeywell-compatible parts on our trucks, so we can typically complete the job in a single visit. Homeowners usually discover the failure one of two ways: the indicator light on the unit has gone dark, or someone in the house notices allergy symptoms returning after months of clear air.
We’re Cardinal Air Duct Las Vegas, an independent service provider, not affiliated with Honeywell directly. But we’ve installed and serviced their air treatment products across Las Vegas long enough to know exactly what fails, why it fails here specifically, and which replacement part actually fixes it the first time.
Which Honeywell Models This Applies To
This guide covers the Honeywell UV air treatment systems and electronic air cleaners commonly installed in Las Vegas homes: the UV100 series surface treatment systems, the UV240 series whole-house air purifiers, and the F300 electronic air cleaners with their associated power packs and cells. The UV100 and UV240 systems both use Honeywell’s proprietary UV bulb design, typically 14 or 16 inches depending on the exact model, and they are not interchangeable between series. The F300 uses a different mechanism entirely: a high-voltage power pack that charges collection cells, and when that pack fails, it’s usually the solid-state power supply, not the cells themselves.
Here’s a compatibility gotcha we see regularly in Las Vegas: the UV bulb part number printed on your unit’s door label matters more than the series name. A Honeywell UV100A1059 and a UV100A2000 look nearly identical from the outside but take different wattage bulbs and different ballasts. Swapping the wrong one works for about two weeks before it burns out again. We always match by the model number on the side label, never by guesswork from a photo. OEM Honeywell bulbs last longer in our experience, but there are quality aftermarket equivalents for older UV100 units at roughly 30% less. For anything still under warranty, we recommend OEM only, since aftermarket parts void the Honeywell coverage.

Signs Your Honeywell Vent Sanitizing Is Failing
- Indicator light is off or flickering. On UV100 and UV240 units, a dead indicator light almost always means the bulb has reached end of life. UV bulbs lose sanitizing effectiveness well before they stop glowing visibly, so a bulb that looks lit may still be doing nothing. In Las Vegas, where systems run hard during our nine-month cooling season, bulbs burn out 20 – 30% faster than manufacturer ratings suggest.
- The bulb is dark or blackened at the ends. If you can safely view the bulb behind the viewport and it’s dark at the terminals, the bulb is spent. This is the single most common failure and the easiest fix: a bulb swap we can do in about 45 minutes.
- The unit hums but no airflow change or sanitizing effect. On F300 electronic air cleaners, a humming power pack with no ozone smell or collection-cell activity usually means the power supply is producing insufficient voltage. That’s a power-pack replacement, and it’s the more expensive end of the range.
- Allergy symptoms returning. In Las Vegas, with our dust, pollen from date palms and olive trees, and the constant recirculation of desert air, a working UV system noticeably reduces airborne irritants. If family members start sniffling again when the AC runs, that’s often the first household clue the UV bulb or power pack is dead.
- Burned or scorched smell near the air handler. On UV systems, a failed ballast can overheat. If you smell anything electrical or see discoloration around the unit, shut the system off at the breaker and call us. This one isn’t a DIY moment, it’s a safety call.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Here’s the straight pricing for Honeywell vent sanitizing replacement in Las Vegas, installed:
- UV bulb replacement (UV100/UV240): $285 – $350 installed. This covers the OEM or equivalent bulb, removal of the old bulb, cleaning of the quartz sleeve or viewport, and verification that the ballast is outputting correct voltage.
- Ballast and bulb replacement: $390 – $520 installed. When the bulb and ballast fail together (common in Las Vegas homes that run AC year-round), we replace both. We test the old ballast first, so we’re not selling you parts you don’t need.
- F300 power pack replacement: $320 – $480 installed, depending on whether it’s the older analog or newer digital power supply.
Every replacement includes a written price before we touch anything, and the price doesn’t change at the door. You’ll see exactly what the part costs and what the labor costs. The work carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the replacement fails within a year, we return and correct it at no charge. That’s not a line item or an upsell, it’s the standard on every job we do in Las Vegas.
DIY or Call Us?
There’s a safe middle ground here. You can absolutely inspect the viewport, check the indicator light, and verify the model number on the side label yourself. That information helps us quote accurately over the phone before we even schedule the visit.
But replacing the bulb or ballast yourself is where we’d pump the brakes. UV bulbs operate on high-voltage ballasts, and even with the power off, the capacitor in a ballast can retain a charge. The bulb itself is also a mercury-containing glass tube: if you break it, you’ve got a hazardous-materials cleanup in your air handler. And on F300 systems, the power pack produces thousands of volts. None of this is worth hand surgery or a trip to urgent care. If you’ve confirmed the model number and the indicator light is out, call us at (725) 600-6597 and we’ll handle the swap safely, with the right replacement part on the truck.
FAQs
In Las Vegas, most Honeywell UV bulbs last 12 – 18 months before sanitizing effectiveness drops off, even though Honeywell rates them for up to 24 months of continuous use. Our desert climate and nine-month AC season shorten that lifespan measurably, which is why we recommend checking your bulb at the one-year mark.
No. UV bulbs are not repairable, and neither are the solid-state ballasts once they’ve failed. Any repair attempt just postpones a replacement by weeks. The parts are sealed units, and aftermarket rebuild kits we’ve tested don’t hold up in Las Vegas heat.
Most Honeywell UV bulb swaps take about 45 minutes. A full ballast-and-bulb replacement typically runs 60 – 90 minutes. We schedule one visit and complete the work that day.
We stock Honeywell UV100 and UV240 bulbs, compatible ballasts, and F300 power packs on our trucks, along with equivalent parts for Lennox, Trane, and Carrier systems. In most cases, we have your part on board the day of the service call. Call (725) 600-6597 for an exact quote on your model, estimates are free.
