Rotobrush Duct Sealing & Repair: The Las Vegas Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Rotobrush-compatible duct sealing components and repair kits across Las Vegas, with most sealing jobs running between $425 and $1,100 installed depending on system size and how much of the ductwork has separated or cracked. A same-week appointment is typical once you call (725) 600-6597, and we carry the common Rotobrush series parts on the truck so we’re not guessing at the supply house while your AC sits idle. Most owners discover the problem as a musty smell that won’t quit, or a specific room that’s suddenly ten degrees warmer than the rest of the house in July.
Here’s the pattern we see every summer: a Las Vegas homeowner notices one bedroom or hallway getting less air than it used to. They check the vent, maybe swap the filter, and the problem stays. What’s actually happening is air is escaping the duct run somewhere between the plenum and the register, and in a city where attics bake at 140 degrees, that escaping conditioned air is being replaced by pulling hot, dusty attic air into the return side. The fix is usually a localized sealing and repair job, not a full re-run of the system.
Which Rotobrush Models This Applies To
Rotobrush has shipped a few different product generations over the years, and the sealing components don’t all interchange. The brushes and shaft assemblies for the aiR+ series and the older RotoStorm / System 1 and 2 lines use different couplers and brush diameters, so pulling a part number off the old unit is the first thing we do. Look for the silver data plate on the main housing near the power switch: you’re hunting for a model prefix like “RB,” “RC,” or “aiR+” followed by a three or four digit number. If the plate is worn off, we can usually identify the unit from the hose diameter (the aiR+ runs a 12-inch collection hose, the older RotoStorm units are typically 10-inch) and the brush head design.
For sealing materials specifically, what matters more than the exact Rotobrush unit model is the duct system inside the home. Metal trunk lines with taped seams fail differently than flex duct, and the product we spec depends on that. When it comes to Rotobrush-branded sealant and patch kits versus quality aftermarket equivalents, our honest take from the field: the brush and shaft assemblies should stay true OEM because the tolerances matter for balance at speed, but mastic sealant, UL-listed foil tape, and aerosol-based duct sealant from commercial HVAC brands often outperform the OEM packaging at the same or lower cost. We’ll tell you which one we’re using and why before any work starts.

Signs Your Rotobrush Duct Sealing & Repair Is Failing
- One room consistently runs hot or cold while others are fine. The duct run feeding that room has likely separated at a joint or developed a tear in the flex section, dumping conditioned air into the attic or crawlspace instead of the room.
- A musty or dusty smell that returns within days of cleaning. When the return side has a leak, it pulls unconditioned attic or wall-cavity air into the system. In Las Vegas attics, that air is hot, dry, and loaded with blown insulation fibers.
- You see dust streaks on the ceiling or wall around a register. Air escaping around a poorly sealed boot connection deposits fine dust on nearby surfaces, and it’s especially visible on lighter paint colors.
- Your summer electric bill climbs without a lifestyle change. A system losing 15 to 20 percent of its conditioned air to the attic runs longer cycles to hit the thermostat setpoint, and the utility cost shows up within one or two billing cycles.
- The system gets noisy, or you hear a flapping sound when the blower kicks on. A loose section of flex duct or a partially detached inner liner can flap when air pressure changes, a sound that’s easiest to hear in hallways or closets near the run.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Duct sealing and repair in Las Vegas runs $425 to $1,100 for most single-system homes when we’re addressing localized leaks, separated joints, and cracked boots. Whole-home sealing of every accessible duct run in a larger single-story or two-story home can push toward $1,300 to $1,800, and that’s the job where the labor hours are real. What drives the range: how many runs need attention, whether the ducts are in an attic or a crawlspace, how bad the separation is, and whether we’re re-sealing with mastic and tape or applying an aerosol sealant from inside the system.
Every quote includes parts, labor, and the sealant material itself, written out line by line before we touch anything. The price we hand you before work starts is the price on the final invoice, period. The warranty on our sealing and repair work is a written guarantee, and if a repair fails, we return and correct it at no charge under our 365-Day Done Right Promise. You’ll also get before-and-after photos of the actual seams and joints we worked on, not a stock photo of someone else’s attic.
DIY or Call Us?
There’s a limited set of things worth checking yourself before you call. If you can safely get to your attic access, look for visible separations where a flex duct connects to a metal collar, and check for duct tape (the household gray stuff) that’s dried out and peeling. Duct tape fails after a few Nevada summers because the adhesive cooks off in the heat; if you see it, that’s likely a leak point. You can also check your register boots from inside the room with a flashlight to spot gaps between the boot and the drywall.
What you should not do is climb into a Vegas attic between May and September to attempt a full repair. Attic temperatures hit 140 degrees or more, the framing is unstable in places, and doing it wrong means either falling through the ceiling or making the leak worse with the wrong material. Sheet metal edges will cut you, and the mastic and aerosol sealants we use require proper PPE and application technique to actually hold under thermal cycling. If you’ve got visible separation and want it sealed right the first time, call (725) 600-6597 and we’ll get eyes on it.
FAQs
Properly applied mastic and foil tape sealing typically lasts 10 to 15 years in Las Vegas conditions, where the primary stressor is repeated thermal expansion and contraction from extreme attic temperature swings between summer afternoons and winter nights. Cheaper materials like household duct tape fail within two to three years, which is why we’re specific about what goes onto your system. Call (725) 600-6597 and we’ll assess what you currently have on the ducts.
A separated joint, cracked boot seal, or small tear in a flex duct can almost always be repaired by re-seating and sealing the connection, which is a fraction of the cost of replacing an entire run. Full replacement is only needed when the inner liner of flex duct has deteriorated, or when a metal run is crushed or so corroded it can’t hold a seal. We’ll show you exactly which situation you’re in with photos before quoting anything.
A typical localized sealing and repair job covering three to five leak points takes three to five hours from arrival to before-and-after photo delivery, depending on attic access and how spread out the leaks are. Larger whole-home sealing jobs can run a full day. When we schedule you, you get a live trackable arrival window so you’re not waiting around wondering where the truck is.
Yes, we carry Rotobrush-compatible sealant cartridges, UL-listed foil tape, mastic, boot seal materials, and common couplers on our service vehicles, so most repair jobs are completed same-visit. If your job needs a specialty part we don’t have in stock, we’ll tell you before we leave the driveway, not after we’ve opened the wall. Call (725) 600-6597 for a free estimate.
